If you ever thought crocheting was for little old ladies or making afghans, think again! Amigurumi. Ami-what? Yup, amigurumi. I had no idea what it was, until I started seeing these adorable crocheted critters on twitter. It’s a Japanese art of crocheting or knitting small stuffed creatures. I have never see so many adorable critters (and fun hats) as those made by DsgnGrl. She recently displayed at SD Comic Con. But don’t worry if you missed her, she has an Etsy page.
And if you want to try your hand at crocheting, she even has nice yarn for sale, and 1 pattern (for a cute Cthulhu – most geeks can appreciate it).
If you really want to learn to make these, and it is a bit harder than it looks, there are books on Amazon, but don’t expect to get these results overnight. dsgnGrl has been crocheting for 4 years. Follow her on twitter @dsgnJenn and her blog http://dsgngrl.blogspot.com/
